You doin' too much sis: A minimalist guide to achieving more by doing less.
We’ve all heard the phrase “Less is more”. Well, it is the truth! If you’ve ever set goals and aspirations for yourself and felt overwhelmed by the process then keep reading. God has not called us to just barely get by or be swamped with stress. He has called us to live abundantly and to make an impact in the lives of others. The more availability and space you give yourself, the more fruitful your hard work will be. When you’re juggling too much, you are only able to give a small amount of yourself to each task you are doing. If you are balancing less , think about all the energy and love you can pour into your passions and goals. Keep reading to find out how:
take inventory of energy suckers
Do you feel less energetic/sluggish? Take some time and reflect about what is sucking all your time and energy that really isn’t needed. That thing may no longer be serving you anymore at this time. People pleasing can be an energy sucker because it leaves less space for yourself trying to seek out the approval of others.
Let it go
Now that you’ve taken inventory it’s time to let go. What behaviors can you let go of to free yourself from feeling overwhelmed? People pleasing is a definite one. Look at your daily calendar, can you remove yourself from certain meetings or activities? Most importantly, cast your care. What load are you unnecessarily carrying? Let it go and give it to God.
Release the pressure
Are you holding yourself up to some standard or expectation to accomplish something? Are you feeling like you’re in a competition with everyone else? A lot of the time we aren’t even pressured by others expectations but only from the expectations we place on ourselves. Stop comparing yourself to others and release the pressure. There is a time and season for everything. If you’re in the waiting season, be patient and wait on God.
Rest is productive
It is so important to rest. There is a reason why there is a sabbath. We all need time to recharge and replenish ourselves. When you are rested you are able to handle your tasks more effectively. This makes space to enjoy the things that you love to do.
What are you creating more space for? Let me know in the comments!
