Zelue’s Lactation SUPER Smoothie
As a Vegan mama it is very important to me to produce breastmilk for my daughter. I did have to supplement her with soy formula when she was first born. I took some great classes and my Doula also served as a lactation consultant so my breastfeeding journey was full of support. I’m happy to say I’ve been breastfeeding strong for the last 3 months! To maintain my milk supply I stay well hydrated with coconut water and water, I get rest ( when i can! newborn mommy life), reduce stress, take my prenatal vitamins, and I eat a well balanced plant based diet. I also started drinking plant based smoothies that have ingredients to boost supply! Here are some ingredients that are great milk boosters:
Old Fashioned Oats
Flaxseed meal
Brewer’s Yeast
I love the antioxidant punch that berries provide. They are my go-to fruits when I make a smoothie.
Since drinking this yummy smoothie, I’ve noticed an increase in my supply! Check out the recipe below:
Ingredients:
1 cup of frozen mixed berries (strawberries, raspberries, blueberries)
1 Peeled Banana
2 tsp of flaxseed meal
1 tbsp. of Old fashioned oats
1 tsp debittered brewer’s yeast
1 1/2 cup of plant milk of your choice ( I love oatly milk)
1-2 tsp of agave syrup
Throw all ingredients together into blender and blend well. You can add the agave syrup before or after blending to adjust sweetness.
